I think #4 is collect the sweet, sweet tears of players who choose to be KDR Kittens rather than team players. But maybe that's just me
Honestly it's not really exclusive to the snipers either, I've seen bad heavy players be bad from within the red zone, I've seen bad assault players being bad from within the red zone, I've seen bad gunners (on dropships, HAVs, and LAVs) being bad from within the red zone. I haven't seen bad Logi's being bad within the red zone but speaking as a Logi who's going to notice a bad logi because they'll essentially be doing nothing
And you know what, as irksome as all those above things are, there have been pub matches (and more than a few) where I've been thankful for players riding the bench in the red zone rather than trying to zerg into lines of fire or LAV rush towards turrets/forge gunners/swarms. A well organized corp squad can turn the tide of a battle in many cases, but be it ambush or skirmish there's virtually nothing that can be done to adequately compensate for teammates who throw clones away at such a rapid pace. I'd rather someone get suck in and mix it up than opt out, generally speaking, but I'd rather someone snipe badly and go 3/4 than someone assault badly and go 7/15. At least the sniper gives me more time to work with.
On a closing note, before anyone feels the need to file a 'hurt feelings report' on me, let me say that I've been that bad player playing badly. I've sniped badly, assaulted badly, (kitten, I still fly and drive badly)and I respect the time and effort it takes someone (who doesn't have years of fps experience already under their belts) to develop their skills and compete. So to those who are new I say this, keep trying and focus on two things teamwork and the goal. Ignore petty things like stats and pay attention only to constructive criticism. You'll get better, I did. (cue someone deciding to troll me for the post in 3, 2, 1...)

After a few failed attempts to retake an objective by myself (since lord knows no one else was going to do anything) I gave up and decided to see if I could get lucky and pull off a few kills with a sniper rifle, something I've only handled a few times.
Shortly after crouching behind some boxes my view was obstructed. I unzoom and find there is a blue standing in front of me and pointing an SMG at me. I scoot a bit to the side, he follows. He was doing this deliberately, trying to keep me from shooting. My theory: he thought I was one of the assholes who sits back there all game and snipes.
Jerk even shot me a couple times.
I've seen these folks, they make me laugh because they seem blissfully unaware that they're contributing even less than the 'problem players' they're "stopping". So at least I can chuckle about something as they contribute to their/my side losing that pub match. |
